WORKING OUT

Working out is important for everybody because of physical and psychological health, and its social benefits. Nowadays, people do not want to spend their time exercising. Usually there are many reasons to avoid exercise; for instance, jobs, school responsabilities, no free time, social life, and family obligations. That list is not over there; so there can be many other reasons for people just to avoid working out. But many of them are not concious of the amount of problems that this can produce; for example, diseases like obesity, psychological disorders like depression, and even social problems like drugs and gans that are related, in certain ways, to the lack of exercising. The purpose of this essay consists in explain some of the causes and effects related to the lack of exercise. To achieve that result, the causes and the effects has been grouped in three categories: physical, psychological and social.

Working out is a good instrument to prevent many kind of problems. First of all, we can point out the exercise as a direct responsable in the prevention of multiple physical diseases. Some of the most common are: obesity, high and low pressure, heart attack, diabetes and hypertension. Second, working out is good to prevent signs of psychological disorders such us anxiety and depression. Depression is the most common mental disorder diagnosed by the specialists. It can be produced by internal or external reasons. When it is internal, its because the brain reduces the production of serotonine; this is a chemical substance that helps to regulate the sense of humor and animic conditions. Thus, working out can help the body to keep the normal production and balance of serotonine, preventing depression. Working out is also a good technique to control some compulsive behaviors like shopping, smoking, and drinking. Finally, training the body has some social benefits, specially for teenagers and the society in general way because it helps to prevent the drugs consumption, to keep the young people away from gans and it contributes for normal growing of younger people.

Recently, we have identify in working out one positive characteristic: prevention; and we pointed out how it is important to keep not only physical and psychological health, but also, to build a better society. So we can afirm that working out is the cause of the prevention of many different kind of problems: for individuals and for the society. In the other hand, in the next paragraph we are going to explain how working out can have also positive effects when the problems described could not be avoided. To do that we are going to keep the three same groups used in the last paragraph.

Working out is valuable not only in the prevention of the problems described before, but also in the treatment of them. In case of physical diseases, the specialist should combine the medical procedures with exercise because reaserch has shown that this can help to a faster and better recovery. This technique is used also in psycho therapy. In case of depression, it is very useful to combine the therapy with exercise because this will help the brain to produce more serotonine, in consequence, the pacient is going to feel better and the disorder can be treated without using drugs. Working out can also help to reduce the anxiety. Finally, when children and teenagers consume drugs or belong to a gang, many social programs to rescue them combine social assistance with exercise and the practice of sports such us soccer, basket, and others.

In conclusion, working out has many benefits and we can group them in three categories: physical, psychological and social. It is important to promote exercise not only in schools or high schools but also in companies and nursing homes, because the benefits are for all kind of people; it does not matter the nacionality, the economic position, the age or the gender. To promote the exercise is a good investment in personal health and also in social policies; all the society will get the benefits, specially the insurance companies. In short, the human body is like a machine, and it needs constantly maintenance in order to prevent physical, psychological and social diseases.
